Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone is the latest Hatsune Miku game. It comes in a free base download with two songs: Weekender Girl (Music by Hachioji P, Lyrics by kz), 1/6 –out of the gravity- (Music & Lyrics by vocaliod-P(noa)) to try out along with modules. There are two packs to buy that each contain 100+ songs and each cost $29.99 or as a bundle for $53.99. First pack is the Colorful Tone (cute, upbeat songs) and second pack is the Future Sound (dance-y, rock-y) songs, all of which have been curated from the Project DIVA, Project Mirai, and Hatsune Miku arcade games. This is a massive collection for fans to enjoy and compete to be the best on the online leaderboards.
At the start of the game the tutorial shows the new command buttons added like slides and multi-button holds to add a more pure arcade challenging experience. This version is faster and game modifiers are present as well to add more challenge or help by taking off the health bar. Songs could contain up to five different difficulties to enjoy. Play a practice round first, then a real round, survival mode and lastly watch the music video to relax.
This entry is purely arcade play and no character interactions like in the previous staple Project DIVA series. The amount of content as a whole is well worth the purchase for fans. Survival Courses is a new addition to the series, this challenging mode has you clearing pre-set song lists one after another with a single life gauge and the Combo counts carry over too. Choose the first song and the rest of the song order is randomized. Variety of courses to choose from and each have their own online rankings leaderboards.
Modules are back here and extra SEGA costumes from other IPs as well like a Sonic costume and more. In this entry modules don’t add a bonus boost to your performance to successfully complete the song and is just a visual piece for fans to enjoy. Fans will have a variety of modules and accessories to unlock after earning the VP currency from play sessions.
Overall fans will have a blast to play with the latest installment Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone with one pack or the whole bundle. I just wish all the songs were english subbed. A massive collection of 200 songs in the bundle is fantastic. The visuals are from the arcade version and look stunning. Animations are top notch too. Gameplay is basically unchanged with the same DNA overall but with extra commands to make this the most challenging game in the series to date. Great amount of songs to play and compete for the high score. Then take a break watching the music videos with custom modules and snap photos easily is a blast. It is a must own gem for Hatsune Miku fans.
